Enriching vague queries by fuzzy orderings

چکیده
The Vague Query System (VQS) due to Kiing and Palkoska is an add-on to relational databases which is able to suggest alternative query results in case that an exact query fails. This is accomplished by taking numeric distances into account and, consequently, works only for queries with vague equality conditions. In this paper, we present a concept for extending VQS such that queries with vague ordering conditions can also be supported.

Enriching Vague Queries by Type-2 Fuzzy Orderings
Structural Query Language (SQL) is very restrictive and very dominant tool that handles data that is crisp and precise in nature; but it is unable to fulfill the needs for data which is uncertain, imprecise, and vague in nature. The human queries are rarely crisp, which need unusual requirements to deal with it based on world knowledge. These requirements are called Fuzzy Queries (FQ) that real...
متن کاملVague Ordered Fields: towards an Axiomatic Theory of Vague Real Line
The notion of fuzzy function based on many-valued equivalence relations (many-valued similarity relations (equalities) [17, 18, 19], fuzzy equivalence relations [4, 6, 7, 21, 22, 26], similarity relations [1, 2, 3, 15, 28], indistinguishability operators [27], etc.) has been introduced by several authors, and applied to category theory [5], approximate reasoning and fuzzy control theory [8, 10,...
متن کاملAnswering Vague Queries in Fuzzy DL-Lite
Fuzzy Description Logics (fuzzy DLs) allow to describe structured knowledge with vague concepts. Unlike classical DLs, in fuzzy DLs an answer is a set of tuples ranked according to the degree they satisfy the query. In this paper, we consider fuzzy DL-Lite. We show how to compute efficiently the top-k answers of a complex query (i.e. conjunctive queries) over a huge set of instances.
متن کاملFlexible Query Answering Using Distance-Based Fuzzy Relations
This paper addresses the added value that is provided by using distance-based fuzzy relations in flexible query answering. To use distances and/or concepts of gradual similarity in that domain is not new. Within the last ten years, however, results in the theory of fuzzy relations have emerged that permit a smooth and pragmatic, yet expressive and effective, integration of ordinal concepts too....
متن کاملVague Sets or Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets for Handling Vague Data: Which One Is Better?
In the real world there are vaguely specified data values in many applications, such as sensor information. Fuzzy set theory has been proposed to handle such vagueness by generalizing the notion of membership in a set. Essentially, in a Fuzzy Set (FS) each element is associated with a point-value selected from the unit interval [0,1], which is termed the grade of membership in the set. A Vague ...
